This brief video gives an explanation of what an active test agent is and what it does to troubleshoot and identify issues within the live network. An active agent simulates an actual user and device that you can place anywhere in the network. They use the same SIM-based authentication and are therefore part of the same security trust relationship that the carrier has, and they run the same applications.
