SGS Selects Spirent to Expand Operator Acceptance Testing Capabilities for LTE Networks
Sunnyvale, Calif. – April 14, 2015 – Spirent Communications, the leader in networks, services and devices testing, today announced that SGS, a leading accredited laboratory for wireless testing and certification, has enhanced the testing capabilities it offers its customers by using the Spirent 8100 LTE solution with support for hVoLTE, Voice over IP (VoIP), Video Telephony, and Carrier Aggregation. These critical test areas assess the audio, video, signaling, and data throughput performance of mobile devices to ensure they meet the complex carrier requirements of next-generation LTE networks.
Guaranteeing a superior Quality of Experience (QoE) is a critical factor in delivering services that compete with the increasingly popular Over-the-Top Voice and Video Services. As VoLTE rollouts continue, operators are working to provide a seamless interaction between the new LTE networks and existing circuit-switched networks. hVoLTE, or hybrid VoLTE, is a mode of operation that allows the two technologies to coexist. Testing this coexistence on devices is critical in order to avoid VoLTE call drops during mobility scenarios. Spirent’s 8100 LTE solution addresses the heightened complexities in testing mobile device performance to ensure seamless interoperability across all these new technologies.
“SGS is focused on supporting major operators as they expand their networks to include these critical new technologies,” said Michael Spitzer, Global Wireless manager at SGS. “Continuing our partnership with Spirent allows us to grow our portfolio for LTE device testing and be at the forefront of these next generation capabilities.”
“Partnering with leading authorized test labs is critical to Spirent’s success,” said Saul Einbinder, vice president of marketing for wireless at Spirent Communications. “We are pleased to remain an integral part of the SGS solution for assessing device performance on VoLTE networks and bolstering their portfolio of testing services.”
Backed by Spirent’s extensive expertise, the 8100 LTE solution supports a wide range of leading edge and legacy application, location and radio access test areas, and its flexible option-based design allows you to add test capabilities as you need them.
